Third-party Drivers such as EaseUS NTFS for Mac are designed to bridge the gap between the Mac OS and the NTFS file system when it writes to NTFS. If you must do this, buying for a third-party NTFS driver is the way to go, as the free alternatives don't perform well and are more challenging to set up. It is turned off by default for a good reason. This is something we strongly discourage you from attempting to use. In reality, it's destroyed data in the before. Even if it works, there's no guarantee it won't ruin your NTFS file system. It is, however, disabled by default and must be enabled via the terminal. In addition, it offers a security risk by mounting NTFS volumes in read-only mode automatically.Īpple's NTFS-Write Experimentation: Writing to NTFS disks is now supported in an improved manner by the macOS operating system. In comparison to paid solutions, it's slower. As a result, installing this takes a bit of time on Macs due to 10.11 El Capitan's new System Integrity Protection feature. As a result, it should provide better results than the free alternatives listed above.įree Third-Party Drivers: You can enable write functionality on a Mac using an available open-source NTFS driver. This is a premium option, but it is simple to set up. Paid Third-Party Applications: It's possible to use paid third-party NTFS drivers on your Mac these drivers perform perfectly. Everything kinda worked but in docker you had to specify some environment values that you don’t in the macOS packages.Launch EaseUS NTFS for Mac on Mac, click "I already have a license" . I never had any issues with the media not mounting after reboot either. I ran it on my NAS which’s also hosts the media so I used symlinks instead of SMB. The docker version was the same really but I didn’t have hw transcode. It was basically install and point the media to my smb mount.Įdit: I realize I may have misread your comment but I will keep the text above anyways since it’s my experience with the official macos app. Hardware transcodes work great straight out the box. The only complaint for me is that updates require you to put in the admin password every time but there is a simple workaround for it that makes it work the right way (just place the PMS app in a different location and not the systems Applications folder). Updates I just do from the web portal instead of opening portainer and pulling the new image so it’s handy. How are you making that work and staying connected after a reboot? Are there others out there that are using M2s with Ventura and having luck? While this isn't my only option (currently running plex on my Synology) I wanted to give this a shot and see how it performed compared to the nas (and offload the work to another device). I know others have mentioned they use Macs for Plex servers and have mounted shares from Synology.
